Institute for Perception, Action and Behaviour, School of Informatics, University of Edinburgh

The Institute of Perception, Action and Behaviour, formed in 1998, focuses on the theoretical and practical links between computational perception, representation, transformation and generation processes. This includes research into bio-mimetic robotics, computer vision and related topics.

Dr Barbara Webb

Barbara Webb's main research interest is perceptual systems for the control of behaviour in animals and robots. Her research is based on combining sensory inputs to motor outputs, for example research into the vision and olfactory senses in fruit flies, or a robotic cricket that combines sound localisation and visual reflexes. The aim is to explicate and evaluate hypotheses regarding the interface of physical sensors and neural control systems.
